May 28, 2012 Pentecost – The Day After

We believe that the words of faith – the words of many peoples in many languages —  speak on, not just on the festival day but on all the days that we journey together. So we share these words. Some of them have come from the book Gifts in Open Hands: More Worship Resources for the Global Community (ed Tirabassi and Eddy, The Pilgrim Press, 2011) LINK and some are new prayers, liturgical resources and poems written by some of the  one hundred and forty-seven contributors representing forty-three countries who are included in this anthology.

We begin with a call to worship. Perhaps for you it is a call to waking in the morning.

Maker of all things wise and wonderful —
elephants and egrets, pineapples and pelicans,
striding camels, waddling ducks
and hedgehogs that curl into prickly balls–
You fill our world with miracles and mysteries and humour.
Fill us now with the wonder and delight
that are our on-going worship.
God, oh God, may our delight
be the acceptable worship in which you can delight.
