Prayer after the typhoon for the Philippines

December 19, 2012

O come, O come, Emmanuel,
come to typhoon-battered Mindanao,

find your manger in the shelters
where children live
who daily go to the road to beg,

and send your angels to sing
above the broken coconut trees,
the bananas laid waste,
and storm shattered buildings
where people wander for a piece of home.

The people who walk in Davao Oriental
shall seen a great light.
the dwellers in Compostela Valley
on them will light shine,
for unto them this year the Child is born,

among them will be found
the Word whom we name —

Wonderful Comforter, Mighty Hope
Everlasting Parent of orphans,
never Pablo,
but Breath of Peace. Amen.
