The Morning News

Thanks to Penelope Stokes for this wonderful poem.

On the Repeal of DOMA
June 26, 2013

Today we took one step
through the unseen veil
into a world where,
at least,
the questions are being asked:
If not now, when?
If not here, where?
If not us, who?

If we are all equal in God’s eyes,
then let us see one another
with that clear vision.
Let us speak with the voice of faith
and be not afraid.
Let us fear nothing
except the temptation
to stand back
and keep silent.

Love is love.
That is God’s name.
Let us not neglect to claim it
and proclaim it
to the heavens
and beyond.

All who love,
all who are faithful,
all who are true,
all who walk the way of peace
are harbingers of freedom,
and kin to Christ,
and born of God.

May it ever be so.
Amen. Amen.

  1. Amen! And may we mark this day, in heart and memory, as a moment of fullness in time.

  2. rezrevres says:

Congratulations to all our brothers and sisters in the United States, for in one day taking two huge steps toward becoming a ”… land of the free and the home of the brave”.
As the poem says so simply and yet eloquently: “All who love, all who are faithful, all who are true, all who walk the way of peace are harbingers of freedom, and kin to Christ, and born of God.” Well said, and indeed: “May it ever be so”!
