Positive Ten Commandments from Argentina

Gerardo Oberman of Argentina takes the Ten Commandments, written in stone and often treated like religious wallpaper, and re-casts them as positive statements! What good words for the new year’s beginning. Reading this interpretation helps us understand the original more clearly.

Ten “positive” commandments

1. I am the Lord, your God.
I have taken you from many difficult situations,
never left you or abandoned you.
I would like to be your first priority.

2. The whole of creation talks of me.
The skies and the earth are the works of my hands.
I appreciate their beauty and want you to appreciate and enjoy it.
Art and painting are beautiful, wondrous.
Symbols and images help to shape your faith.
But always remember that I am above all created things.
It is difficult for me to understand
when people, confused, worship material things.
But I share with joy now and forever
those greet my name above all names.

3. Call me when you need me and I will be there.
Use my name always to bless others,
to do good and to proclaim Life.

4. Rest one day of the week.
I know that you need it.
I did not forget to rest after
I finished preparing the world where you live!
Your body and your mind are tired,
as is your spirit.
On that day, remember me especially.
If you go to a church,
or if you go out with your family or with your friends
or if you simply need to replenish your strength,
think of me, just like I think of you and yours.
Let the rest of people also be able to rest,
so that all have the opportunity to feel like a person.

5. Remember the elderly. They gave you life.
Visit them, call them, hug them, love them.
Honor them and you will be honored in your own life.
A time will come when you will see how beautiful it is.

6. Live and let others live equally as you.
May you always be the one who stands up for the lives of others.

7. Search always to be consistent in your faith, without ever adulterating it.

8. Share with others what you have to share.
When you share fully, there is no one who lacks anything.

9. Walk always after the Truth.
The Truth sets you free and serves you well.

10. May what you have to live suffice for you,
and, knowing this, may you always have a grateful heart.

I have a slightly different response to commandment number 7. this is not a commandment but my own thoughts …

“Celebrate your sexuality by experiencing it always in occasions of tenderness and commitment.”

Diez mandamientos “en positivo”

5. Acordate de los viejos. Ellos te dieron la vida.
Visitalos, llamalos, abrazalos, querelos.
Honralos y vas a estar honrando tu propia vida.
Vas a ver qué lindo es.
