“Reveal” a poem prayer by Todd Jenkins

One of the few original writers for Gifts in Open Hands, More Worship Resources for the Global Community (Pilgrim, 2011, Tirabassi and Eddy) from the United States was Todd Jenkins of Fayettesville, Tennessee. This prayer from his ongoing blog touched me deeply.

Teach us, O Creator of the universe,Todd Jenkins
to un-hoard our lives
by letting go of the things
we think we need,

so that we can make room
in our homes and hands
to gently cup the beating heart
and fluttering wings of your promise.

Gift us with a peace that nestles us
secured but un-smothered
in a willingness to risk
our whole selves to your providence.
