Good Friday, Easter … From the Psalms to the Cloud

Prayer for Good Friday

Christ, tongue bright with vinegar,
who has done nothing wrong –
not war or cancer,
not tsunamis, Alzheimer’s,
traffic accidents killing children –
remember us,
as you hang suspended from our pain,
remember me,
before I forget myself. Amen.
– Maren Tirabassi

Prayer for Easter

God, you call to us from the throats of many
The many who have come this Easter morning

Our faith rustles with its very newness
As it does each year, despite the agony of Christ,
Despite the suffering born in our mortal frailty

Because like Christ, with his vulnerable humanity,
We have a spirit, each of us, great enough to rise
Great enough to roll away the stone
And find our faith renewed
– Maria Mankin
