God, I pray for Joe’s kids –
for all the children who have found
a truly wonderful Joseph figure.
Some of them are in foster care,
in amazing transitional home places,
many of which have nurtured
forty or fifty kids.
Some are adopted –
loved and welcomed
with boundless joy and gratitude.
Some have a Joe
social worker, or sponsor,
godfather, coach, parole officer,
teacher, troop or pack leader.
Thank you, God!
It’s an old saying.
Some kid was in a tough place —
and a carpenter picked up a hammer …
and saw. Amen.
Thank you Maren, for your cycle of “Kid’s Prayers”, and for the breadth of your inclusive scope. Something in all of them rang familiar bells, although some came much closer to touching upon scars in our own lives that haven’t as yet fully healed. I’ve circulated copies to many of my colleagues along with the address of your blog site, and all have responded with very favourable comments. And, just in case I don’t get another opportunity in the next week, may you and yours enjoy a truly blessed Christmas, and I sincerely hope that the New Year of 2015 will included the continuity of Gifts In Open Hands on WordPress. Thank you for all the blessings you’ve shared throughout 2014 with so many others all around the globe.
Thank you so much, Matthew, and many, many joys to you and the community that I am privileged to connect with because of you!
