Lenten Reflection on Scripture — Pauline couture

These forty days I will spend time with scriptures, reflecting on them, improvising on them, re-telling them, trying, in spite of Lent, to turn them … resurrection out.

Ephesians 6: 13-17
Don and Willie, Feb 2014
pull on the mittens of God,
and reach out to others
when they slip on icy places in life.
Fasten the scarf of truth
around your throat,
really close to your mouth,
Put on the sweater of justice
and fit your feet to second-mile boots.

With all of these take
the wool hat of salvation –
toss the helmet —
and beat any swords
that happen to be in your hand
into an ice scraper of the Holy Spirit,

lest the frost “what people say”
obscure your road.
