Prayer for Nepal from Psalm 46

God is refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Though the mountains shake in Nepal
yet neighbors dig for neighbors —
in the rubble of the Dharahara Tower,

God is not in the trembling
of tall Everest, of holy places,
of deep history and young children.

God is in the midst of the city
of Kathmandu.
God weeps
because it has been moved,
and God will help it
when the morning dawns.

Be still and know that God
is refuge and strength
through Red Crescent and Red Cross,
through the prayers
of all the faithful
and rescuers of all nations.
