Sunday, December 6, 2015 … O Antiphon for the Festival of St. Nicholas

O Ho-Ho-Ho-sanna, O Giver of gifts,
O Saint-maker of us all,St Nicholas

Nick our hearts
that we may bring bread
to the hungry,
protect children
when their hope is stolen,
open up the casks
of well-hidden crimes,
still storms,
and raise the dead,

that we may toss handfuls
of unexpected joy
into the empty shoes
and drying socks
of sleeping neighbors,

and by horse or by donkey,
on a sleigh or a ship,
in a polar express
or a 34th street miracle —

share love with all the world.

Love these encouraging words and the vision of sharing God’s gift, near and far. Being UCC, I don’t actually have a “patron saint,” but if I did, it would be Saint Nicholas with his life of selfless giving
    . Thank you!

Love it, even though the 6th has past I have decided to enlighten my congregation with stories of St Nicholas before treating them to your poetic, prophetic and profound words.

Thanks, rosalie — yes, it will make more sense! St. Nick is popular all season long.
