Holiday — February 2, 2016

Today is the day when people
in New Hampshire know
that some really strange folks –
some of whom don’t believe in climate change
and, therefore,
promise to go back to sleep indefinitely,

and some of whom are squarely in favor
of the right to blow ground hogs
to smithereens
with assault weapons –

are going to be gone in a week,
and that’s why we’ll call it – Mardi Gras.mardi-gras-beads
