Prayer for Puerto Rico before Hurricane Irma

May they who wait upon the storm
renew their strength.

May they lifted up
on wings of community
above the winds, above the eye,
above the floods.

May they run to care for others,
never too weary,
and may they not run out
of shelter, plywood over windows,
food and water.

And when the raging has past,
may we all walk with them
in the rebuilding of their lives
and not faint.

Reflection on Isaiah 40:31
