O God, you who always accompany
the people who go down to the sea in ships,
we pray with a storm in our hearts
for the forty-four
out of contact on the ARA San Juan.
Whether they are tossing on the waves
or down in the depths,
stay with them and send help
through all the efforts of the world
on air and water.
Bless search and sonar,
bless thirteen ships and six airplanes,
through high winds and waves —
that these Argentineans may be rescued
and come into safe haven.
Sustain those who wait and watch
with the quiet of hope. amen.
(Know that you are in the prayers of my church, Second Christian Congregational Church in Kittery, Maine, where many are part of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Community)
