For the Seattle Train Derailment

God, you ride the rails with
hobos and commuters,
engineers and conductors,
and with so many people seeking
holiday destinations.

We thank you that you walk
among this broken train
and in front of frightened drivers.
We thank you that you search
through woods
and cut through debris
seeking those who may be trapped.

We pray for your grace
with emergency responders
and those in hospitals,
with those who guide highway traffic,
and with family members
worried and waiting for news,
or grieving loss.

We pray for every one
bound for your glory,
held in your loving arms

and for those anticipating travel
later this week,
we ask for peace and calm spirit.
