New Years Words from Venezuela

This is the gift of *Rev. Obed Juan Vizcaíno Nájera ofMaracaibo – Venezuela. I am so grateful. Translation is Katie Fiegenbaum.

*GIFTS*

They will go
with the last minutes
of the old year—
those deeply lived experiences,
dreams fulfilled,
words spoken,
hopes longed for.

They will go—all those experiences
not as pleasant,
the tears shed,
and the words not spoken,
disillusionments and distances.

They will come with the New Year,—
those things that we still
do not know,
that fill us with hope
and expectations.

There is no controlling the future.
What God wants will be,
we will live new experiences,
and we will triumph,
for it is in our nature
to overcome.

The future will come
the wish to reach the goal,
the opportunities to live
one day at a time.
Yes, life will come again.

*ALBRICIAS*

Se irán
con los últimos minutos
del año viejo,
aquellas experiencias vividas,
los sueños realizados,
las palabras dichas,
las esperanzas anheladas.

Se irán todas aquellas vivencias
no tan agradables,
las lágrimas derramadas,
y las palabras no pronunciadas,
las desiluciones y lejanías.

Vendrán con el Año Nuevo,
aquellas cosas que todavía
no conocemos,
que nos llenan de esperanza
y expectativas.

No hay control sobre el porvenir.
Vendrá lo que Dios quiera,
viviremos nuevas experiencias,
y triunfaremos,
en nuestra naturaleza
está vencer.

Llegará el futuro,
el deseo de llegar a la meta,
las oportunidades de vivir
un día a la vez,
llegará otra vez la vida.
