God willing

America can be a place
of welcome and hope,
Insha’Allah.
Judges rule but the people
of this country do not agree.
Insha’Allah.
A President’s words
are not the words of our heart.
Insha’Allah.
Our country will be blessed
by people of all nations,
by mothers, fathers, children,
by new neighbors
from seven times seventy nations.
Insha’Allah.
People of all faiths, united,
can open doors
and break down walls.
Insha’Allah.

Thank you. You are prayerful hope in the midst of darkness

  2. Maren says:

Not my most polished verse, but we need to be present, to stand up!

Maren, my “family of choice ” beloved brother ( part of my family since the 60s since he came to Washington U in St. Louis) is a Muslim., originally from Tunisia now living in Austin. I sent him and his dear wife your Insha ‘Allah piece and they were so appreciative. He even wanted to thank you for spelling it correctly! He and I both sort of represent to our CM,unities that the other is part of our human family, as your piece says. On behalf of my immediate family, and especially from him, thank you for this. Blessings, Jane Fisler Hoffman Sent from my iPad

Thank you, Jane. It is so incredibly wonderful to learn where my words go and what particular parts of them resonate and matter. (I certainly hear from folks who do not like what I say!) I appreciate your passing the poem on and his comment. May we all become a deeply bonded and trusting community across the boundaries that people try to force upon us. Insha’Allah.
