God, walk across your broken city
and your small fishing town,
lifting into light each one who has died,
searching like families do
for those who struck by earthquake rubble
and those swept away in tsunami force.
Dry away their every tear,
but weep with those who weep their loss.
Be triage with the tired workers
whose damaged hospital strains
under the injured,
search with those who seek
the living and care for the dead.
Hold a bereft child, raise the beam
of a shattered home,
re-consecrate with hope your mosque,
and bring the compassion of the world
to your beloved island. amen
