Formally known as a lachrymator (United States southern border)

Lacrymator – (tear gas) Wikipedia
You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle.
Are they not in your record? Psalm 56:8

God, you have kept count of their —
sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing,
especially for young people
and those with asthma,
loss of motor control, dermatitis,
irritation to the membranes of lungs,
pain in the eyes, temporary blindness
and in a percentage of cases,
permanent loss of sight.

God, you have kept count of all their
earlier tossings —
miles walked, desperate fear,
hope for compassion,
willingness to wait, to beg,
to watch their children grow weary
and expose their children —
to hatred.

and you keep their tears in your bottle,
where they shine like a
new Bethlehem star.

Do you not also keep in your record
those who turn them away –

those who use against them a lachrymator –
a maker of tears. Amen.

(written of the treatment of migrants at the southern United States border)
