A neighbor’s prayer for friends in the United Methodist Communion

God of gentleness,
please wrap your queer arms of love
around your children
in the blessed tradition of warm hearts
on a morning of broken ones,
that they may hear your invitation –

come unto me all who are weary,
weary, weary, weary,
and beautifully laden
with the gifts of many expressions,
identities, orientations,
and such long and faithful work.

Give, rest, O God, for this day,
and — for the beginning
of the next journey —
your most holy companionship.
amen.

Thanks. For yesterday’s holy words, too.
