Prayer for the Michigan Flooding

O Walker on the waters, Healer of our hearts,
we pray for all in the midst
of the Tittabawasse flooding,
and collapse of Edenville and Sanford dams,
for in the midst of pandemic
people are afraid of the waters
and afraid of the shelters.

Bless those in rescue efforts,
those who are working at
Midland and Bullock Creek high schools
Meridian Junior High and
the West Midland Family Center
those staying inside from the weather,
masked and cautious,
or sleeping in their cars outside.

Let fear recede from them,
for your love is higher than the crest
of any flooding,
you still the winds of panic
by the kindness of friend and stranger,
you keep us all from sinking
into isolation, anger, fear, despair,

and you stay faithful for the re-building
of homes and of hope. amen.

Thank you, Maren, for these words of comfort and hope for the people in Michigan. A reminder for those of us who are sheltering securely, to keep them and countless others in our prayers. To be beacons of kindness.
