Jesus and Distance Learning (Matthew 15: 10-28)

Jesus listened
to what came out of his own mouth
calling the woman a dog,
and realized how it defiled him.

He saw her faith, he heard her hope,
and he felt her love.
After that, the gospel says,

he started healing everyone.

Jesus learned,
and there was no more distance,

and, we learn, too,
though, like most virtual lessons,
we need a lot of reinforcement
in our own context.

And we need to focus
on what is most important —

at the center of this story,
a child is safe.

  1. I am so impressed with your insight into this story, Maren, that a child is safe. Thank you.
