(a riff on Mark 9:2-9)
Rev. Holly S. Morrison offers this for me to share(Permission granted for sharing with attribution.)
She writes this of herself – I serve as pastor and teacher at Phippsburg Congregational Church, UCC in Phippsburg, Maine. With my wife, I also steward the land at Tir na nOg Farm, an educational restorative agriculture farmstead.
When Peter, James, and John
climbed that mountaintop
and saw Jesus shining,
Old Moses and the prophet dropping by–
their bond blindingly bright–
They wanted it always:
a photograph, holograph,
souvenir glass globe
with three static figures among
dancing motes of light.
“Let’s make booths,” they said,
“A counter, some stools,
a menu that does not change,
And a wait-staff with infinite
time to wait.
We’ll call it ‘The Elijah Dinah;’
You can come sit with Jesus,
24-7, all day, all night.”
And Jesus replied:
(With Cloud back-up)
“Stop sandwiching me. Another party
needs this table. Clear out.
This place needs no
glowing review—do not post any stars.
Just say you went for a hike,
and stopped in for break-
fast at Epiphany’s.”
