May the Tree and the Nest
and the Bird with smooth feathers
who cares for all of those
with thin shells,
hunger-wide mouths,
and a fear to stretch their wings,
bless us when we are cracking,
bring us love from near and far away,
and teach us to fly.
And may we always discover
so many holy parables waiting around us
that we never try to claim
we own the name of God.
