Prayer for Gaza

Holy One, All Compassionate, All Merciful,
gently hold those who grieve
forty children who have died in Gaza,
another one hundred thirty adults.
Be at the side of those who care
for a thousand injured.

Repairer of the Breach,
we pray for all who will rebuild
first the news
then its building, and
all the places broken to the ground.

We pray for peace
between Palestine and Israel,
for mourners in Israel,
for Al Aqsa Mosque,
and all who live in East Jerusalem,
and fear to lose their homes.

We pray for those from Egypt, Qatar,
and the United States,
who seek a pause, a breath drawn
in the midst of violence.

And, O God, we of Christian faith
pray for a world to be
always on the “road to Gaza”
the place we celebrate
as showing us, when we forget,
that holy words are for all.

amen

(Acts 8:26-40)
